Mid-20th-century battery-operated crawling baby doll, featuring a tin/metal body with vinyl head, hands, and feet. The doll is posed permanently on hands and knees with a red button on the chest and an internal battery-operated mechanism accessible from the underside. Maker is unknown; similar dolls are often attributed to 1950s Japanese production, but this example is unmarked.

Approximate size is about 13" long and 10" tall in crawling position (based on comparable examples).

Condition

  • Overall fair vintage condition and non-working.

  • Internal mechanism and wiring are present but untested; toy is offered as not working for display or repair.

  • Tin body shows significant wear including scratches, scuffs, dings, areas of paint loss, rust, and oxidation, especially on the underside and around the battery compartment.

  • Battery compartment exhibits corrosion and old residue; door is present but worn.

  • Vinyl head has soiling, scattered marks, and color loss to the hair and facial paint.

  • Vinyl hands and feet are dirty with surface wear and small stress marks.

  • Fabric straps/pads attached to limbs and back are frayed, worn and discolored; the doll appears to be missing its original outfit.

  • Please examine all photos; the doll is sold exactly as photographed.

A strikingly eerie mid-century mechanical doll—ideal for a doll hospital, vintage toy collection, horror/oddities display, or art project.
