The title page lists 36 East 22d Street, and the copyright page identifies Schlueter Printing Company, New York. Offered as circa 1909, with the precise printing unspecified.

Potter’s story follows a cat and terrier whose village shop attracts plenty of customers but struggles when purchases go unpaid. Color illustrations and black-and-white drawings depict the shop, its merchandise, and its animal visitors.

Pale green paper-covered hardcover boards with a mounted color cover illustration and printed spine title. Illustrated rear endpapers feature animals on shop scales.

Condition: Complete, as confirmed by the seller. Front inner hinge split, with exposed binding and some separation between the cover and text block. Covers have rubbing, discoloration, and edge, corner, and spine-end wear. Pages show age toning and occasional light spotting or handling marks. No dust jacket.
