Published during World War II in 1944, this compact manual was prepared for U.S. Army Air Forces personnel and provides practical instructions for surviving emergency landings, bailouts and other situations in the jungle, desert, Arctic and ocean.
The manual contains 174 numbered pages covering a wide range of survival subjects, including emergency landings, shelter, food and water, signaling, survival equipment, emergency radios, flares and methods for improving the chances of rescue.
Period illustrations appear throughout, including the excellent “To Bail or Not to Bail” aviation illustration shown in the photographs.
Condition: Complete with all 174 pages present. No missing pages. All pages are securely attached. Interior pages remain clean and readable. Original red covers show age-related surface wear, rubbing, edge and corner wear and some marks as clearly shown in the photographs. Binding remains intact.
Approximately 82 years old and an authentic piece of WWII aviation history.
